RTN 900 Series
The Huawei RTN 900 series is the industry’s first IP microwave product that integrates TDM, Hybrid, Packet, and Routing. It can meet voice transmission requirements for 2G networks, voice and data transmission requirements for 3G networks, broadband data transmission requirements for LTE networks, and also 5G-oriented evolution requirements. This effectively protects the infrastructure investments of operators.
10+ Gbps bandwidth
- As networks continue to develop, the requirements of mobile bearer networks with regard to microwave bandwidth constantly change. To maximize the value of microwave spectrums, Huawei’s 5G microwave RTN 900 series uses the carrier aggregation (CA), MIMO, ultra-high modulation, and large-channel technologies. This can provide a maximum bandwidth of 10Gbps to satisfy the requirements for up to 10 Gbps per site in the 5G era.
Smooth Evolution
- As the industry’s first IP microwave product that supports E2E MPLS-TP and IP/MPLS (L3VPN), RTN 900 can be used to build connectivity-oriented packet networks. It supports unified transmission of TDM/ATM/IP services and smooth evolution to packet networks, allowing operators to fully utilize existing network infrastructure.
- RTN 900 takes the lead in supporting both high-precision IEEE 1588v2 and synchronous Ethernet, meeting phase and frequency synchronization requirements of 2G, 3G, and LTE base stations. This feature means less GPS equipment is needed on the base station side, reducing GPS deployment and maintenance costs, which in turn reduces network TCO.
- The dual-channel ODU that supports CA can be used for one hardware deployment and multiple software-based capacity expansions. You do not need to add new ODUs for capacity expansions.
- Innovative modular antennas can be used for upgrades without changing the dish. This facilitates smooth evolution towards 5G, maximizes the investment in the live network, and reduces TCO.
- For installed IDUs, boards can be replaced without changing the subrack. 5G boards can be quickly used to achieve fast upgrade, protecting customers’ investment.
Low Latency
- Ultra-low latency is an important target for 5G networks. Huawei’s 5G-oriented microwave solution uses Huawei-developed core chips and low-latency algorithms, reducing latency by more than 50%. The latency of common-band and E-Band microwave can be reduced to 50 μs/hop and 30 μs/hop respectively. Compared with 4G networks, the latency is greatly optimized, meeting the requirements of 5G mobile communication.
Site Collaboration and Intelligent O&M
- The method of installing the ODU and antenna is similar to that of installing the 5G blade base station. This helps simultaneously deploy the 5G blade base station and 5G microwave device during one site visit.
- The microwave device and base station can communicate with each other to support intelligent fault diagnosis and automatic rerouting.
- Automatic O&M can be achieved. During service planning, automatic service design can be performed. During service rollout, automatic topology discovery can be performed to deploy services in one click.
- Based on Huawei’s comprehensive network cloud engine (NCE), all cloudification solutions can be used together to perform efficient transmission of different services and cross-domain service O&M.
As of 2017, Huawei has deployed more than 1 million microwave hops in more than 130 countries for over 50 of the top 100 global operators.
